The mk3 tdci is a mature product, I think all known problems have been discovered by now. If you don't get any ideas from this forum, try asking on talkford.com as it has an active mk3 section. I've just replaced the sensor today with a delphi grey one. £22 so worth a try.

A couple of weeks ago my Mondeo 2.0 TDCi started making a whooshing noise when accelerating from 2000-3000 rpm. It was due for a service so I took it to Ford and asked them to investigate this noise at the same time. Their verdict was "road tested vehicle and can hear turbo waste gate but no black smoke and vehicle driving ok and not lacking
